New York, October 30, 2018
After a video dedicated to the New York lifestyle to the sound of “I Happen To Like New York” (by Judy Garland), Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO, took the stage at the Brooklyn Academy of Music to introduce the so anticipated fresh baked Apple products.
The long-awaited Macbook Air
The new Macbook Air was entitled to the first minutes of the presentation: after a retrospective full of statistical data about the success of the equipment around the world, a new model of the range was revealed. The most beloved model in the range, the Macbook Air, had this one year a change of look and a fitting of features to let loose a brave “wow”.
Let’s start with the Retina Display, a long-awaited, fan-requested feature that now comes with 4 million pixels (four times more than an HD display) that brings the images to a level of detail and realism never before achieved by the brand. In addition, the 13.3-inch screen extends to the edges, which are now 50% thinner, giving you a computer with an immersive screen and simply stunning, with a splash of 48% more colors than its predecessor.
Another novelty in this year’s Macbook is the Touch ID. The system we are already used to now comes to this laptop, implemented on your keyboard, and Apple gives users increased security by taking actions like unlocking your device, authenticating a document, or paying an online order through its new Apple T2 Security Chip.
I make an honorable mention to its new generation keyboard, which has an additional 20% area on the touchpad, supporting even more gestures from users. Added to all of the features mentioned above is the implementation in this new release of a Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) port and the fact that Apple has opted for a 100% recycled aluminum construction in an attempt to reduce its carbon footprint.
To finish, as we look inside the new Macbook we find a latest generation Intel Core i5 processor, a SSD disk up to 1.5TB, a RAM that goes up to 16GB and a battery that according to Apple, will guarantee you 12 hours of use. All this will cost from $ 1,199.
The new Macbook mini
The Macbook Air is not the only new member in the family, and has also been introduced “the most powerful Macbook Mini ever.” This “beast”, as it was affectionately nicknamed by Apple, comes equipped with an eighth generation Intel i3, quad or hex-core, a 2TB flash memory, a new cooling system, four Thunderbolt 3.0 ports, HDMI and 10GB ethernet connections. In addition, this pet accepts up to 64GB of RAM, and can be yours for $ 799, starting November 7.
The new iPad Pro
We finally came to the last product announced by Apple, the long awaited and wrapped in rumors iPad Pro. Introduced as “the biggest change since the presentation of the original,” the new iPad arrives with a liquid retina system, also present in the iPhone X, implemented on an 11 or 12.9-inch screen that Apple ranks as “a piece of magical glass that does everything you need, in any way you grab it.” Despite a larger screen area, the new iPad is smaller than its predecessor and even thinner, with a stunning 5.9mm.
Unsurprisingly, the iPad lost the Home button and also has a Face ID system, designed for safe and quick unlocking and payments, in both landscape and portrait mode.
Under the hood, we find the most powerful and smart chip Apple has ever made – the A12X Bionic. Let’s look at some numbers: 8 cores, 7 nanometer technology, 5 trillion operations per second, twice as fast graphics and (allegedly) faster processing than 92% of computers on the market. This makes the new iPad an ideal tool for multitasking, immersive gaming and even a bit of virtual reality.
The new tablet from Apple also has a memory of up to 1TB and a USB-C input, which makes connecting to external devices, such as monitors and cameras, much easier and, in addition to this, enables to charge an iPhone via iPad. It’s true, in case you need a power bank, you can always opt for the new iPad Pro! You have to give up $ 799 – 1749, depending on which model you choose. The latest iPad is accompanied by the new Apple Pencil, which now responds to your touch and fixes on the device magnetically for wireless charging.
To close with a golden key, were announced new apps and projects such as Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood, which promises to pull through the device, running at 120 FPS, NBA 2K19, which according to the brand offers animations at 60 FPS, impossible to get on any other mobile device, and Project Arrow, an augmented reality image editor, that allows the user to create and draw animations in real time and have the result literally in front of them.
To close the event, the Apple CEO has come back on stage to announce iOS 12.1 that supports video communication between multiple users and brings 70 new emojis.
